Nordbex and Aker Solutions Partner to Accelerate Bio-CCUS Deployment Across Europe

Nordbex and Aker Solutions have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand their collaboration and accelerate the rollout of bioenergy with carbon capture, utilization, and storage (Bio-CCUS) projects across Europe.The partnership’s first milestone, Nordbex 1, will be Sweden’s first replicable Bio-CCUS plant, set to begin operations in the SE4 electricity region by 2029.A Model for Climate-Positive Energy
Nordbex 1 will convert forestry waste into electricity and district heat for local communities while capturing and storing carbon dioxide.Designed as a scalable and replicable solution, the facility will serve as a model for climate-positive energy generation. Under the agreement, Nordbex will lead as project developer, while Aker Solutions will provide project management, owner’s engineering, and EPCm (engineering, procurement, and construction management) services.

From Engineering Study to Full-Scale Partnership
The collaboration began in 2023, when Aker Solutions’ consultancy arm, Entr, carried out engineering studies for Nordbex 1 to assess technology integration. Puro.earth Integrates CCS+ Initiative Carbon Removal Methodologies

CapsolEoP® selected for major BECCS project in Europe

Capsol Technologies ASA has secured the next engineering contract to integrate its carbon capture solution, CapsolEoP®, into a pre-FEED study for a large bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) project in Europe.
